Some non-birder friends recently asked me if I bird every day. The look I gave them said it all. Of course I do, unless I have an unavoidable obligation or the weather is just so bad, the birds won't be out. I ran into a friend when I went out after the last storm and he told he'd been out all day -- it was a great time sea watch. So that is what I did this morning -- I slept in a little and just went down the street. I realized that two years ago I spent almost every morning in the winter watching the sea at Watch Hill Lighthouse and recently the mostly I've done is a drive by (have I mentioned I am working on my patience?).
This morning I vowed to stay there at least 30 minute -- I was there almost 1.5 hours. Good things come to those who wait. I was hoping for a Northern Gannet, but would have been happy just to watch the sea. Got lucky.
When it really started snowing I went to the State Beach and got to see birds in the snow -- fun! This evening I got a new Gull.
