Wonderful morning with birding with Maria. Started off with a Varied Thrush report at a young birder's (he's 13) home. He found it and was kind enough to provide his address, but he was at school by the time we got there - his Mom told us he begged her to stay home today. We had a Varied Thrush in the state in early 2021 in winter -- it is a west coast bird and IF we've had it, we've had it in winter. He was at a bird feeder.
Next we went to the "Other" side of Rhode Island had to cross three bridges to get to Tiverton. We stopped to grab a coffee at Groundswell and Maria who is a gardener wanted to check out the nursery. Then she spotted not one, not two but three (count 'em) THREE Black-crowned Night-herons at Nonquit Fish Ladder. If we had stayed longer I have no doubt she would have seen at least a few more.
It started out foggy -- and one of those, should I stay in bed days. What a joyful day!
